Get them here.

Find the right sized carton box for your art piece

Firstly, purchase specialty carton boxes. Get them here from Boxigo. Secondly, sort them according to their sizes. All the small paintings can be clubbed together. Depending on the size of the box, a maximum of two is recommended. If you are moving a large-sized painting, it is best to pack them in a carton box that is a size larger than the painting. Thus, it is best to use new carton boxes to avoid witnessing shattered glass at your new home.

Mark your glass with an ‘X’

If your artwork frame has a glass covering, mark an ‘X’ across the frame using the masking tape. This will stop the glass from moving or totally shattering too much.

Shield the face of your art

If your art piece doesn’t have a glass covered over it, then it is best to protect it with a palette or a saran wrap or a kitchen plastic wrap (if the saran wrap is unavailable).

Wrap the artwork with paper and bubble wrap

On a flat surface, lay out the brown paper and place your artwork on the brown paper facing the surface. Wrap the paper around the frame like you wrap a present. However, take care that you do not wrap the painting in newspapers. Although they provide great cushioning, they tend to leave imprints (newsprint marks) on your painting.

Wrap the frame both ways( length and width) with packing tape. And, this ensures that the paper stays in place during the move.

Repeat the above process with a bubble wrap.

Always prioritize the glass to safety first. If you are packing paintings of the same size, pack them individually and subsequently place them in a carton box together.

Read More: Importance of hiring professional packers and movers | Exploring different types and kinds of warehouses for business

Test Movement

A test movement is recommended before sealing the carton box completely. Gently close the box and wiggle it slowly to check if there are any indications for unstable movement. Certainly, add padding if necessary. In addition, you can use crumpled newspapers or any old clothing for the padding.

Seal the box. Thoroughly.

Seal the box thoroughly and ensure that the sides of the carton box are sealed properly. Moreover, you wouldn’t want the artwork slipping off from any side.

Mark the box.

Mark the box as fragile with bold characters to let the packers and movers deal with care. Also, mark it as fragile and the location to be placed in the new home such as living room, dining room or so.

Rightly position the box

Ensure that the box is wedged between two heavy objects to avoid it from moving rigorously. And keep the packed picture on its side rather than facing up or down. Thus, the pressures absorbed is easier on an edge rather than when flat as a result of which it is much safer.

Do avail the services of Boxigo, professional packers and movers to make your packing and moving a much simpler process.

Happy Moving!

There’s something satisfying about packing and shifting an item.
